Baltic Preschool - Head Start
Handbook
Welcome:
Welcome to Baltic Preschool/Head Start! Thank you for giving me the
opportunity to work with your child. I will do my best to give your child a
rewarding educational experience!
Philosophy:
Preschool is a place where many children begin their initial
educational experience. It is a time of growing in awareness of self and of
others. A preschool program allows children to play, explore, and use their
imagination. Through play, children learn many readiness skills that prepare
them for future educational experiences. Motivation and encouragement will be
given to help develop responsibility, self-discipline, and creativity. Each
child will feel safe, loved, and respected. Each child will be recognized as an
individual with individual needs and potential. It is a place where friendships
are made!!!
Goals:
·
Provide an early childhood curriculum that is developmentally appropriate
·
Provide a safe, inviting environment where children feel free to speak, create,

morning session and 12:25pm for the afternoon session.

Parents are asked to wait in the commons area to pick-up their
child. Either Miss Lesnar or Miss Chasity will direct students to the commons

Snack Time:
Morning Session:
There will be no snack
time during this session due to the fact that students are given the option of
both breakfast and lunch.
Afternoon Session:
Families are to provide
a snack for all students in this session. This may be done by providing a snack
or money in which snacks may be provided. Please bring about 20 treats when
designated on monthly calendar. Good nutrition is stressed! Please try to avoid
sweet treats. Alternatives to sweet treats might be: fruits, vegetables,
crackers, cheese, nuts, popcorn, finger jell-o, etc.
School Supplies:
4 Dry Erase Markers
1 Bottle of Glue
4 glue sticks
Large School Bag
1 Crayola Water Paints

Clothing:
Dress your child in comfortable, washable play clothes that are
suitable to weather conditions. Please mark your child’s outer clothing and
boots with their name. Children must wear BOOTS, MITTENS, HATS, and SNOWPANTS
during the winter. Providing your child with an extra set of clothing which may
be left in their locker in case of an accident is also recommended!
Parent Participation:
You are always welcome! I encourage you to observe in the
classroom. I recommend you allow your child at least a month to adjust before
planning to visit.
Folders:
Each student will
need a folder to take home any work completed in school. These folders will also
include any newsletters, calendars, reminders, etc. Please be consistent in
checking your child’s folder; for important information may be inside!! If your
child needs a separate folder for both mom and dad please provide two folders.
Conferences:
Conferences will be held two times a year. However, feel free to
contact me at any time for your child’s progress.
